“Candles have importance as a symbol or focus at all times of year, but at Christmas, they are especially a reminder of the significance of the birth of Jesus as the Light of the world. For this design I wanted to have three candles, for the Trinity, richly decorated with patterns from or inspired by those in the Book of Kells, a reminder of John 1:5, that God’s light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome or even comprehend it.”
